Collaborative Decision Making (CDM)
What is CDM in the context of Airport Management?
Experts assume that the world-wide air traffic will double in the next five to ten years. Airports will meet their operational limits and further expansions are often difficult to be achieved. Therefore all available capacity reserves must be utilized more intensively. This requires a close co-operation of all partners in the ground handling at the airport involved in this workflow.
To support this co-operation, Eurocontrol together with Airports Council International (ACI) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) has developed the concept of Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) which shall harmonize the IT-processes in the airport business
What is provided by SKY-CDM?
The base components of the SKYport AODB together with the various communication options of SKYport Connect already provide the airport with an efficient tool to implement CDM projects with its local partners.
These options are extended by SKYport CDM, which upgrades SKYport to a first-level CDM application by a sophisticated process management.
- all substantial phases of the aircraft handling processes may be subject to a precisely timed monitoring
- status information and alarm procedures ensure the common situational awareness of all concerned parties
- web interfaces directly send the information to the user - on mobile devices and on cute-terminals
SKY-CDM is not limited to the linear turnaround process described in the standard. It also supports the parallel processes of airplane handling like
- boarding
- cleaning or
- catering
and thus integrates the handling agent even more intensely into the common decision-making processes.
What Are the Benefits of SKY-CDM?
Improvement of the Planning Process by
- flexible planning and monitoring of the handling processes to the minute
- optimized resource usage and improved punctuality of air traffic
- monitoring of exceptions
- calculation of the effect of process delays
Control of Service Level Agreements
- logging of all events and alarms
- documentation of requests for optional handling services
- access via browsers independent from the work station
- precise data entry through mobile devices
